Frequently Asked Questions

How do I start?
First thing you should do is talk to an expert, and discuss exactly what you want to do. Are you flying for fun or for competition? Figure out if you should be starting with a starter plane or with something more complex. Keep in mind also that prices may vary extremely from plane to plane. Remember flying radio controlled airplanes is not an easy task.

How much does it cost?
That all depends on you and what level you wish to fly. Good quality planes start as low as ninety dollars and could exceed many thousands of dollars more for some top of the line models. A specialist in the field could help you make the proper decisions. You can look up specialist in the local Yellow Pages or check out an online specialist.

How far can radio controlled airplanes fly?
Many radio controlled airplanes have a range of about one to two miles. Of course it is impossible to see them at that distance without binoculars. Most r/c flyers keep their planes within two to three hundred yards of themselves.

Are planes pre-built?
Some planes come fully assembled whereas others require some minor assembly. Completely disassembled planes are also available for the hobbyist wishing to build his/her own plane.

Can a beginner teach himself?
Of course one may choose to train themselves but it is not recommended. It is difficult to fly r/c airplanes so it is recommended to learn about flying radio controlled airplanes before trying to fly them on your own.

What is better gas or electric?
This is totally up to you. Each system has it's own ups and downs. Gas provides more power whereas electric provides more tricks and stunts.
